Before and After Nose Surgery Photos 34

Augmentation Rhinoplasty & Saddle Noses

An example of plastic surgery to an ‘African’ nose. Using the ‘open’ approach – to expose the anatomy of the nose – we performed a ‘sill’ excision on each nostril (we removed a slice of cartilage from the bottom rim of each nostril). This narrows the base of the nose so that it does not exceed the intercanthal distance of the eyes – the distance between the inner corner of each eye. Ideally, the intercanthal distance of the eyes should not exceed the width of the base on the nose. We also introduced a laminated beam graft to raise her bridge (the dorsum), and a shield graft to the tip of her nose (to give it definition).
