Collaboration with the Department of Health – The Nose Clinic’s fully fledged surgical facility was designed in collaboration with the South African Department of Health. The Department inspects this facility on an annual basis and approves all modifications. We are registered with this department, as well as with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (Registration number 0105210).

Minimal pain  – Thanks to the above procedure, the pain factor is minimised. Contrary to what many of us believe, the discomfort from most injections is not caused by the needle penetrating the skin, but by the flow of anaesthetic into the tissue — and that is precisely where our pioneering work in rhinoplasty anaesthetic begins. The key to conscious sedation for rhinoplasty is the computer-aided WAND™ system. A microprocessor calibrates and delivers local anaesthetic in conjunction with a tiny, beveled needle that works at a constant pressure regardless of variations in tissue density. This creates a smooth pathway for the flow of anaesthesia — and, importantly for our patients — is both pain free and safe. Conducted in conjunction with a

sedative, conscious sedation is so patient-friendly that most patients doze comfortably for the duration of the procedure.
